How to Flatten My Acrylic Mirror




Acrylic mirrors are a fast and inexpensive way to decorate a room. Acrylic material is not crushed and weighs much less than glass, but acrylic material is easily curved when exposed to heat. If your acrylic mirror doesn't warp it, flatten and hang it again.
The thing you need

Two pieces of fine glass
Protected surface

Safety gloves (use gloves when handling mirrors and glass to protect your hands)

Remove support. If the mirror is in a frame, wearing safety gloves, gently pull the mirror out from behind with your hand.

Find two pieces of fine glass that are longer and wider than a mirror.

Place a piece of glass on a protected surface in direct sunlight. Position the bent mirror, the reflective side down, in the center of the glass.

Place the second piece of glass on the mirror. Align the edge with the bottom.

Let the sun heat the glass. When the mirror is soft and even, move the sheet of glass and mirror to a Distressed convex mirror protected surface in the shade until the acrylic material cools and hardens.

Remove the mirror from between the glass sheets. Put it back in the frame and put it back in support.

Hint:

The amount of time needed to soften the acrylic depends on the severity of the warp and the heat vintage convex mirror from the sun. Patient.

Wear work gloves while handling glass and hot material.
Don't let the acrylic mirror overheat. Heat can damage it, so check it often.
